Current sizes of large format tiles or stones such as Granito, glazed tiles, Marble and Granite are usually 80x80 cm, 60x120 cm, 90x120 cm or sometimes, up to 100x200 cm. These products are preferred in upscale projects due to their advantages in cleaning, maintenance, design application and grout line quantity during construction, which creates a luxurious, unique and modern interiors that look more spacious than reality.
With many years of experience in finishing construction, LeafSeal recommends the following checklist in extra-large format tile installation:
- Thorough compaction and clean surface, therefore maximize adhesion.
- Well-prepared mortar or tile adhesive – mortar should be mixed properly to comply with construction standards and special adhesive for large format tiles is highly recommended.
- Notched trowels are highly recommended to create better adhesive layer.
- Back butter should be applied to create better adherence of tiles to tiling substrate.
